Safety Policy
Health, Safety, Security & Environment Policy
Safety is more than a matter of policy — it’s a matter of culture
Our Four Pillars
Our positive and responsible company culture is built on four pillars: health, safety, security and environment (HSSE). Intimately interconnected, these pillars work together to protect all our stakeholders.
Health
Operations must protect the health of all stakeholders and the public.
Safety
Safety for all stakeholders as well as the public is our first and most important commitment.
Security
Security for our customer’s facilities and operations, as well as ours, is a top priority.
Environment
Our Project Cloverleaf™ program upholds the principles of responsible transport.
Certified Safety
In addition to our HSSE framework, the American Chemistry Council has accepted Odyssey as a member of its Responsible Care® program. We uphold its Guiding Principles. Learn more about the principles of Responsible Care®
How we do it
More than just a set of guiding principles, HSSE permeates every aspect of our work and culture.
Operations
All programs and procedures that structure our operations and services have to be designed with HSSE front-and-center. This includes compliance with internal HSSE policy as well as any government policy.
Training
Cultures of safety are supported by regular training. This is why we continuously train our staff to ensure HSSE is ingrained into all aspects of their work responsibilities.
Communication
Officials, associates, customers and the public deserve continuous and transparent communication on matters that affect their safety. We provide a steady flow of information to all stakeholders touched by our business on HSSE risks and hazards and recommended protective measures.
Cooperation
Safety goes beyond the borders of Odyssey. We partner with other companies that handle chemicals to share knowledge about HSSE and the principles of Responsible Care® to ensure our industry is safe across the board.
Always improving
HSSE and Responsible Care® are not static. We work to continuously improve our procedures by conducting safety audits, by creating goals and metrics to benchmark performance, and by integrating new industry best practices.
