Network optimization study with leading global manufacturer unlocks potential for improved shipping operations and reduced costs
June 16, 2021 — Odyssey Logistics (Odyssey), a global leader in complex logistics and technology solutions, announced the company was named Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s 2021 Top Supply Chain Project. Formerly known as SDCE 100, the Top Supply Chain Projects awards spotlight successful and innovative transformation projects that deliver bottom-line value to small, medium and large enterprises across a range of supply chain functions.
Odyssey received the award for its work conducting a completely remote network optimization study with a large, industry-leading global manufacturer in 2020. The manufacturer delivers 12,000 different types of materials to 19,000 customers across six continents. The network optimization study revealed that a substantial portion of the manufacturer’s annual shipping spend was wasted. After creating a digital twin that integrated the manufacturer’s most relevant data and applying advanced modeling software to analyze scenarios, Odyssey identified areas for improvement and provided actionable recommendations to transform the manufacturer’s shipping operations and reduce costs.
“The supply chain industry has been challenged with a host of supply chain disruptions over the last year. Yet, the winners on this list continued to re-tool and innovate,” says Marina Mayer, editor for Supply & Demand Chain Executive and Food Logistics. “Whether it be moving a customer to a cloud-based solution or implementing a more sustainable shipping option, these top supply chain projects reflect the supply chain industry’s strength and resilience to overcome disruptions and work better, smarter and more efficiently in the years ahead.”
